Spears
Spears come in many lengths as well as having a variety of tips, from the flat arrow tip which is most often seen in medieval designs along with the 3 edged spear tip. Yet the most common of all is the simple pointed tip like that of a modern javelin. Which ranged in from a metal tip designed by armorers throughout Europe and Asia to the simple yet no less dangerous simple wooden tip which was made by sharpening the end of the spear itself and most often hardened by heating the tip several times in an open fire. Bone was also another material used to fashion spear tips with.
A spear is a very deadly weapon in the hands of someone who knows how to use one. It not only gave the combatant the advantage of reach and leverage yet if thrown it was a deadly missle, with reports of being able to lift a grown man and throw him backwards several feet after being hit by the spear, which had been thrown from over 12 feet away. It was also an excellent weapon to use against a mounted adversary.
