Cavalry Swords
Cavalry Swords are most commonly associated with the United States Cavalry and times such as General Custer and the Little Big Horn. Yet nearly every army in the world that had a mounted infantry unit had it’s own version of a cavalry sword.
Most cavalry sword designs had a slight curvature in the blade curving backwards away from the blades edge, which allowed the blade to hang in it's scabbard at the riders side without continually hitting him in the leg all the time due to the jolting motion from riding the horse. Cavalry swords were also well known for their sharp blades as well as the skill of the soldiers who wielded them.
